Our Handsome and Squirmy Boys

We had another ultrasound today; one of the advantages to having multiples means getting more ultrasounds!  They are both growing so well, perfectly.  They both weigh 1.5 lbs. and are still measuring right on track.  Baby A measures 2 days ahead and Baby B measures right on track for today (23 wks, 5 days).  She measured their thigh bones and it looks like Baby A is going to have long skinny legs like his Daddy.  Baby B's might be a little shorter (squatty like Mommy!).  They have been moving around so much, so it's fun to see ultrasounds and know exactly what I feel.  It seems there is a lot of foot-in-face going on!  One of the pictures is of Baby B's foot kicking Baby A's head.  I felt sorry for A at first until she focused in on B and I could see that he's getting his fair share of foot-in-chin from his brother!

B woke me up last night.  I try to stay on my side when sleeping, especially my left side for better oxygen and blood flow.  Neither the babies nor myself get as much oxygen if I'm lying on my back.  Apparently B doesn't like it when I sleep on my back either.  He squirmed more last night when I was on my back than any other time I've felt him!

We are so anxious for these sweet boys to be here.  I can't believe I only have 3 weeks left in my 2nd trimester.  The weeks are flying by and with each one that passes that means a week closer to safe, healthy babies.  I'm still continuing to pray for 36 weeks &/or 5.5 lbs. each (please pray that with me, if you would).

Baby A looks like he's blowing bubbles!

Look at that sweet face!

Baby B's foot kicking Brother A's head!

The ultrasound tech wrote that he's yawning, but I think he looks like he's laughing!

New Life and Remembering an Old One

My sweet grandmother, my Mema, went to be with Jesus on Thursday.  Because of the pregnancy and living so far away, we were not able to travel to Tennessee to attend her funeral today.  I wish these boys could have known her, she was such a wonderful, sweet lady.  She lived a long life of 89 years and about 45 of those were spent missing her dear husband and the love of her life, Frank, who died in 1966, when my Mom was only 16.  I know they are having a time in Heaven now catching up!  I'm sure they're already playing jokes on each other, too!  We love you so much, Mema, and can't wait to see you again one day.

We love you, Mema, and can’t wait to see you again soon.

Jim and I built 2 raised-bed gardens at the end of Summer last year.  We have great dreams of a bounty this year!  We can't wait to carry on this tradition every year and teach our boys how to use their hands in this way.  I can remember helping Mom in the huge garden she had for several Summers.  Nothing thrilled me more than to plant the seeds and then see them actually produce fruit after time and much care.  I think there is something spiritual about planting a garden, whether for food or beautiful flowers.  It's a reminder that, year after year, God will continue to provide our every need.  It takes work and devotion from us, His people, as well.  We are His garden that He constantly feeds, prunes, nurtures, grows, and I love that He allows us that privilege ourselves, whether it be a physical garden, our lives or with our own children.

Sweet Molly Ann

Jim and I knew that we wanted to get a dog before we decided to try for a baby.  We wanted to have plenty of time to train a puppy and bond with it before bringing an addition into the family.  We got Molly in April 2010, she was just 8 weeks old and the fluffiest, sweetest little Labradoodle I had ever seen.  She has quite a bit of sass, too, if I must be honest.  I call her Sassy Ann and Sassafrass a lot!  Since becoming pregnant with these 2 sweet boys, we comment all the time about how we can't wait to watch them discover and begin to laugh at her (she is a funny, funny girl), try to chase her when they become mobile and run around and play fetch with her in the back yard when they're big enough for that.  So many people told us that getting a puppy would be good training and I think they were right.  Other people have said that she'll be ignored and forgotten when the boys arrive.  I sure hope that doesn't happen and don't think it will.  She's our family, too, and we simply adore her!

She LOVED playing in the snow with Dad!

Happy Birthday, Molly Ann!

Our sweet little girl is 1 year old!  Well, she's not so little anymore, 60 pounds now.  We sang to her and gave her extra carrots.  I even gave her one and then one to grow on!  We can't wait to see these boys laugh and play with her.  She is such a joy to our home!
