We're having twin boys!!!

We have decided to start a Gatton family blog so that we can chronicle this journey of having twins!

We found out on Monday, October 4th that we were pregnant.  I noticed around week 6 or 7 that I was beginning to show but thought it was just because I had been pregnant a few months before and I had read that you show sooner after you've been pregnant before.  I had a regularly scheduled 8 week appointment with the nurse practitioner on Monday, November 8th.  That night before, we had a scare so Jim decided to go with me to the appointment.  She sent us right over for an ultrasound and we went terrified.  The ultrasound room had an overhead monitor and as soon as she put the device on my tummy, I saw the 2 sacs.  I immediately said, "Do I see two?!", and she said, "Well, we can't keep a secret from you".  We were in shock and thanking God for this great miracle.  She continued to look around and found 2 healthy babies with strong heartbeats and measuring 2 days bigger than their estimate.

At 11.5 weeks we had another scare, resulting in another ultrasound, all of this while Jim's parents were in town.  All was well then and the babies continued to be healthy and strong.

At 15 weeks we had a normal scheduled ultrasound as a follow-up from the last one to make sure everything was still ok.  When I scheduled the appointment, she asked if we would want to know what we're having if they were able to tell and I said "YES!".  The appointment was scheduled for December 22nd, just before we were to be with family in Little Rock for Christmas.  We decided that if they could tell, that we would have them keep the results from us, seal it in an envelope and that we would take it to a bakery to have 2 cakes made.  Each of the cakes would have the appropriate pink or blue filling and we would take them with us to AR and cut them with everyone there.  They were able to tell!  We had Jim's parents on Skype on one computer and my dad and step-mom on Skype on the other.  We cut into each cake to see BLUE fillings in both!!!  We were so shocked and THRILLED to be having two sweet boys!

That was last week, so I am now 16 weeks.  We just are so overwhelmed, overjoyed and in awe of these two precious miracles and gifts from God.  We are praying that they continue to stay healthy and strong (they measured 2 days over the new estimate last week, so 4 days bigger than the original) and that I'll go to 36 weeks and 5.5 lbs. each minimum.  We also hope this blog will be something the boys can look back on someday, too.
